Least Favorite Things about My Cancun Vacation
———————————————————————————————————————————
* Swimmer’s Ear  - I have been plagued with ear infections for the past year, and I guess swimming too much gave me another one.  Luckily when I got home, I still had medicine from the last time this happened, so I’m already on the mend.
* Having to avoid drinking tap water
* Aggressive selling.  I was not used to the marketplace hard-sell.  In the States, half the time store owners will not even approach you, so I was a little startled at all the verbal banter and incentives to buy.
* The work on the pipes and beach that caused me one night of restlessness because banging-on-a-pipe-kind-of-work was allowed to go on all night.
* The woman who said, “Oh!  They have a Chili’s!” like that was a BONUS.
* Flying.  Planes suck.

Favorite Things about My Cancun Vacation
———————————————————————————
* Getting a sunburn in February - divine!
* Swimming every day outside in the not-very-clorinated pool and hot tub
* Fresh shrimp tacos with perfect avocado slices/the sweetest lobster I’ve ever tasted
* SOL beer-water - the beer that’s as drinkable as water itself - although unfortunately, a beer that it seems impossible to become drunk on
* Cheap beer like Tecate and Modelo - also available as single 12 oz cans in the convenience store
* Improper English translations/typos, like “Shrimp in Spacy Sauce” and “Meat and Sea plate” instead of Surf and Turf
* See-through panels on the paper money!  Menus printed with impossible-looking prices!  $80 for nachos! (amounts in pesos)
* Iguanas hanging out whereever
* Magnificant Frigatebirds (looked like teradactyls flying overhead) and the Great-Tailed Grackle, which was loud and obnoxious and everywhere
* My niece being psyched about having the balcony jacuzzi tub all to herself - “You GUYS!  Having the hot tub to yourself is AWESOME!”
* My niece using a snorkel non-stop around the pool like some kind of wind-up tub toy
* Giant holes in the sidewalk, pieces of rebar sticking out, abandoned storefronts with gunk inside, graffiti-ed things.  I love ugly sometimes.
