i eat things

I realized after the fact that I had quite the culinary weekend LAST WEEKEND (so much has happened since I wrote this post, but I’m posting it anyway)

Friday night, I dragged home piles and piles of groceries, and then whiped up some vanilla cupcakes with fresh peach frosting.  Then Jesse and I went out to Semiramis, a delightful Lebanese place, with my sister, brother-in-law and niece.  We had falafel and hummus and foul and a lamb sausagey thing, and I saw my niece eat a large portion of an entire roasted chicken.  Fantastic!

Saturday morning, believe it or not, Jesse and I had fried chicken and waffles for breakfast.  It’s as delicious as people claim.

Saturday night, we went to a barbeque at a friend’s house, where we had italian sausages, delicious pasta salads and fresh guacamole and devoured some of my cupcakes, which were, in my opinion, slightly dry.  Next time I will try a different recipe.  I think the frosting saved them though.

Sunday, Jesse had to work all day, so before he came home, I prepared fried zucchini puffs with balsalmic-dressed salad (I was nervous about frying the zucchini puffs, as Jesse usually does frying in our house - I always get visions of splashing myself with burning hot oil which will require me to get skin grafts, but I did fine).  I also, at the last minute, made peanut noodles - we had some at the bbq and it really got my mouth set for it - so I made my own in about 10 minutes, after checking the basic components online.  I used peanut butter, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, thinly-sliced red pepper, chives, and some sirraccha paste.  It was awesome!  I think I can still make it better, so I’ll probably try again tonight.  We also had leftover fried chicken with it, and then later for dessert was a leftover cupcake, covered in Hagen-Daz vanilla ice cream, over strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.  YUM.

So…basically, I was a culinary wizard/taster this weekend, and I’m giong to try and top it next weekend! (No, probably won’t. Ha!)  Got to try some new recipes.  Taste life!  (Yes, that is dorky.  I don’t care).
